Veritas Records; Our Record Label
Our music video aimed to provide representation regards of cancel culture through ambiguously representing a society with:
1) Public shaming and persecution
(similar to public trials in the Middle Ages)
2) Lack of due process
(mirroring the limited rights of most people in medieval society)
3) Blind following of trends
(similar to the rigid social hierarchy of the Middle Ages)​
Wanting to create a record label which was symbolic of our music video's core themes, I embarked upon researching for names which were fitting. I sifted through Latin phrases and mythology. "Veritas" immediately stood out. The word meaning "truth" resonated with my vision for the label since we wanted to create a space where artists could express themselves authentically. Additionally, the historical weight of the word, being the Roman goddess of truth and motto of Harvard felt like a powerful symbol for the label's aspirations. Ultimately "Veritas" felt like a perfect fit because it embodies the values I want my record label to represent.
